Refund Policy
This page explains how refunds, credits, missed lessons, withdrawals, registration fees, and instructor cancellations are handled for Chord & Voice Music Academy students.
Last updated: July 6, 2026
General Refund Approach
Chord & Voice sells recurring monthly lesson memberships that reserve an instructor, room or lesson format, and weekly time slot. Refund decisions are based on the membership structure, the amount of notice given, instructor availability, and whether services have already been scheduled or delivered.
This policy is an academy policy and is not legal advice. Any final dispute should be reviewed against applicable Ontario consumer protection principles and the specific facts of the situation.
Free Trial Lessons
The first trial lesson is complimentary for each new student. Because the trial is free, there is no tuition refund connected to the trial itself.
Free trials are limited to one per student. Additional free trial lessons are not provided.
Registration or Administrative Fees
If a registration, setup, or administrative fee is charged, it will be disclosed before payment. Unless otherwise stated in writing, registration or administrative fees are non-refundable once scheduling, account setup, or administrative work has begun.
If no registration fee is charged, this section does not create a new fee.
Monthly Tuition
Monthly tuition is due before the first lesson of each month and reserves the student's weekly lesson time for that month.
- Tuition is not automatically refunded because a student misses a lesson.
- Tuition is not automatically refunded because a family decides to stop after the month has started.
- Account credits or makeup lessons may be offered where this policy provides for them.
Partial Months
If a student starts mid-month, Chord & Voice may prorate the first month or offer a custom start arrangement. This will be confirmed before payment.
Partial-month refunds after a student has started are not guaranteed. Chord & Voice may approve a partial credit or refund at its discretion when fairness requires it.
Missed Lessons
With at least 24 hours notice, a missed lesson may be rescheduled if instructor availability permits. With less than 24 hours notice or a no-show, the lesson is forfeited.
Missed lessons are not refunded. Makeup lessons are subject to availability and may be offered online, in-studio, or at a different available time.
Instructor Cancellations
If Chord & Voice cancels a lesson, the student will receive a makeup lesson or account credit. If a reasonable makeup or credit cannot be provided, Chord & Voice will review the situation and may issue a refund for the affected lesson.
Withdrawals
Families should give written notice before the next monthly billing cycle if they plan to stop lessons. This helps Chord & Voice release the instructor, room, and weekly time slot.
Outstanding balances remain due after withdrawal. Withdrawal does not automatically cancel amounts already due for lessons or services already reserved or provided.
Returned, Failed, or NSF Payments
Returned, failed, or NSF payments must be replaced promptly. Reasonable bank or processor charges may be passed through where permitted and disclosed.
Chord & Voice may pause lessons or release a recurring slot if payment issues are not resolved.
How to Request a Refund or Credit
To request a refund or credit, contact Chord & Voice in writing and include the student name, lesson date, reason for the request, and the best way to reach you.
